Results of SPECOM-2025
The 27th International Conference “Speech and Computer” SPECOM-2025 was held on October 13–14, 2025 in Szeged, Hungary. The conference was organized by the Institute of Informatics of University of Szeged in partnership with the St. Petersburg Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SPC RAS), with informational support from the International Speech Communication Association (ISCA). The conference was chaired by Prof. Gábor Gosztolya, University of Szeged, and Dr. Alexey Karpov, chief scientist at SPC RAS.
SPECOM is a prestigious international conference, which was founded by SPIIRAS (a separate structural subdivision of SPC RAS since 2020) in 1996. The first SPECOM conference was held in October 1996 in St. Petersburg. The conference annually gathers scientists and engineers in the field of speech technologies, including automatic speech recognition and speech understanding, speech-to-text synthesis, speaker and language identification, digital audio signal processing, natural language processing, text analysis, computational paralinguistics, multimodal information processing, human-machine interaction, large language and multimodal models, etc.
The SPECOM-2025 conference was attended by about 50 participants in person in Szeged (mainly from European countries and Russia), including 17 scientists from Russia, and more than 30 participants remotely via teleconference (from different countries around the world, including Asia, North and South America, and Africa), representing more than 20 different countries. During the conference, eight oral and three poster sessions on the main conference topics were held, at which 48 papers (selected by the program committee from nearly 80 submitted papers) were presented, including 22 papers from Russia. Also within the framework of the conference two plenary presentations were made by leading international scientists: Prof. Éva Székely from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, and Prof. Heysem Kaya from Utrecht University, Netherlands
The proceedings of SPECOM-2025 were published by the beginning of the conference by the scientific publishing house Springer Nature in two volumes in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) book series, which is indexed in Scopus (Q2). The conference proceedings are freely available via the official conference website.
